2023.03.14
On March 13, 2023, delegates of one of our partner universities, National University of Malaysia (UKM), visited SUMS for seeking further cooperation. Dr. Goon Jo Aan, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, and Dr. Mohd Hanafi Ahmad Damanhuri, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, in charge of International Affairs, paid a courtesy call to our president, Prof. Shinji Uemoto.
At the courtesy call, Director Tooyama, in charge of research, planning, and international affairs, Prof. Wan Zurinah, Special Contract Professor of Medical Innovation Research Center and Professor Emeritus of UKM, Prof. Agata, Vice Director of International Strategy, Prof. Kato, Vice Director of International Relationship, and Mr. Sukegawa, Head of International Planning Office, were present to discuss strengthening the relationship between the two universities.
Before the meeting, they visited the “Medical Museum” guided by Prof. Aimi, Department of Fundamental Nursing, and they looked around the exhibits, including real human bones and specimens. They were especially interested in the exhibit of comic (manga) books titled “Black Jack,” as manga books represent Japanese culture and the theme of this manga is “medicine.”
They then toured the “Clinical Education Center for Physicians” under the guidance of Prof. Kawasaki, Head of Clinical Education Center for Physicians, and Prof. Oshio, Department of Respiratory Surgery, and enjoyed trying some of the simulators in the center as it was their first experience with such equipment.
In the afternoon, they gave lectures at the 28th SUMS International Symposium.
